The sample is titrated with a standard acid solution (H2SO4) to a specific pH endpoint. Phenolphthalein, pH 8.3 which is P Alkalinity / Total Alkalinity Indicator, pH 4.6 which is T Alkalinity.
For the most accurate test results, it is advisable to replace ALL of your reagents annually. Some reagents can go bad and others can become contaminated with impurities or other reagents during use.
