There are three Hardness Titration Reagent Packs which are intended as a set of reagents to be used with a titration burette method of determining hardness in a water sample.

The first one consists of two each of every reagent shown in the picture. It uses Taylor Technologies reagents. It allows you to run a total hardness and a calcium hardness directly. The magnesium hardness is determined by difference. This is called the Complete Titration Hardness Reagent Pack, and contains the following:

• 2 - R-0618-F, Hardness Reagent .01M, 32 oz
• 2 - R-0619B-C, Hardness Buffer, 2 oz w/ blue cap, Dropper Bottle
• 2 - R-0620B-I, Hardness Indicator Powder, 10 g w/ blue dot
• 2 - R-0653-2-C, Calcium Buffer, 2 oz, Dropper Bottle
• 2 - R-0011P-I, Calcium Indicator Powder, 10 g

The second one consists of two each of the first three reagents shown on the left of the picture. It uses Taylor Technologies reagents. It allows you to run a total hardness only. This is called the Total Titration Hardness Reagent Pack, and contains the following:

• 2 - R-0618-F, Hardness Reagent .01M, 32 oz
• 2 - R-0619B-C, Hardness Buffer, 2 oz w/ blue cap, Dropper Bottle
• 2 - R-0620B-I, Hardness Indicator Powder, 10 g w/ blue dot

The third one consists of two each of the last three reagent shown the right side of the picture. It uses Taylor Technologies reagents. It allows you to run a calcium hardness only. This is called the Calcium Titration Hardness Reagent Pack, and contains the following:

• 2 - R-0618-F, Hardness Reagent .01M, 32 oz
• 2 - R-0653-2-C, Calcium Buffer, 2 oz, Dropper Bottle
• 2 - R-0011P-I, Calcium Indicator Powder, 10 g

As you vary the sample size you must also change the test multipication factor:

• For a 10 ml sample, multiply by 100
• For a 20 ml sample, multiply by 50
• For a 25 ml sample, multiply by 40
• For a 50 ml sample, multiply by 20
• For a 100 ml sample, multiply by 10

Note: that the test result is expreseed as calcium carbonate.
