ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The PDQ test actually counts the ppm of active OP in the test.  Orange is the beginning color of the sample and you flip to Purple at the test endpoint.   And like any other titration method you are counting units of X….in this case active ppm of Organo Phosphonate.

Test Kits generally will provide about 60 tests….but it all depends on the number of drops dispensed for each test…..60 mls x 20 drops per ml = 1200 divided by an average of 15 drops per test (15 total drops – 4 drop auto blank = 11 ppm of active OP as an average value) or about 80 tests per kit….the test manufacturer usually tells people to plan on 60 tests per kit….. This math is for the version 997-1.

The test comes in two versions 997-1 (1 drop = 1 ppm as HEDP, PBTC, or HPA) and 997-5 (1 drop = 5 ppm HPA). The 997-1 is primarily used for cooling towers where the residuals a customarily somewhere between 4 ppm and 15 ppm. The 997-5 is primarily used for closed loops treated with HPA where the recommended dosage is 15 ppm to 20 ppm as HPA. Both versions are the same price.
