The pretreatment of a test sample to remove any suspended particulate matter which will interfere with the test is required at times. The sample should be filtered prior to running the analysis to remove excess particles, iron, turbidity, or other easily filtered interfering objects.

To use the test::

1. Completely remove the plunger from the syringe.
2. Unscew the cilter cartridge and insert filter paper circle onto the screened palte.
3. Screw the filter housing back together tightly.
4. Screw the tip of the syringe into the large threaded hole of the filter cartridge.
5. Set the syringe/cartridge assembly in the 25 mL marked sample bottle (NOT INCLUDED - provided in a test kit).
6. Fill the syringe/cartridge assembly with the sample to be tested.
7. Carefully insert the plunger and gently press downward to filter. Continue pressing down on the plunger until the air bubble, trapped between the sample and the plunger is forced thru the filter. A steady even pressure on the plunger is the optimum filter rate.
